Well, I'm posting Wednesday

Hello. There was no chance of me posting last weekend because I was busy. I have to go back to work this Saturday ugh and I have some doodles that need to be posted here so let's go:

Mermay will be coming to a close soon and this is what I have to show for the past two weeks (and another doodle that I haven't taken a picture of yet). This is a story in two parts: Canoe dude is canoeing along when these lovely ladies poke their heads out of the water. Sirens! He thinks oh, he's going to die happy. Problem is, these mermaids he's coming across are actually an alien species that 1. don't actually look as pretty and 2. like to take unsuspecting men underwater with them. I'm not letting you in on all the details (I gotta leave something for the story) but yeah... my mermaids aren't your run-of-the-mill aesthetic little mermaids.

The third party app I use for Instagram has been acting up. A lot of the time it won't open up fully/it closes without loading which means I've been missing out on posting. I check Instagram on the computer now but it's annoying so I'm not posting as much or even doodling as much as I used to. But I have a couple of Frozen related doodles:

I started drawing Hans for the thirteenth but I wasn't feeling it that day so I ended up doodling up throwing away a balled paper while sighing and calling it stupid. I finished it on the fourteenth and posted it on Tumblr. The bottom is a fan OC of mine from an AU fanfiction idea of mine that I'll hopefully put more of on here but his name is Anders and he is the crown prince of Arendelle. He is the source of his mother's constant worry but he isn't that bad a kid. He just doesn't like having such stifling parents. It's getting late here so I'll just sign off for now. Till next doodle, toodles.

Well, well, well. Look what we have here

Hello! I haven't been here in a week and someone in Portugal decided to discover my blog over the weekend? Hola! Muito abrigato for visiting. And that's like all the Portuguese I know. I came here for a reason...

Whoops, I can only post two of the pictures I have because I made an Instagram post with my phone plugged into the computer so the computer won't read that new picture right now 😞 Anyway, I've obviously been inspired to draw Frozen stuff again but not because I'm currently obsessed with it. Nah, it's because of a fanfic writer I'm following on Tumblr. First picture is part of a series of doodles in my Frozen sketchbook of modern!Elsa in gowns. I was inspired to draw her in a "butt cape" as drawingwiffwaffles on YouTube calls it and I added that cold shoulder look (I literally didn't know what it was called until last week). Like come on, wouldn't she wear something like that? And the second picture is a page I have been working on since end of last year. It is a page dedicated to fanart of this fanfic. Check it out so you understand what I drew here. The writer loved it and apparently felt chills. It took me a while to finish this page partly because she went quiet on Tumblr and naturally didn't update her fanfiction, and partly because I worked out of order and work takes a lot of my time now. I actually like work but I'm supposed to be working part time and it doesn't feel that way. I actually worked 40 hours one week because I covered for someone on a day I had off and I rarely clock out at exactly the time I'm scheduled to finish so I have extra minutes that add up. But I have been getting a lot of stuff that I either needed or wanted since I got hired. I bought a bed and dresser, things I really needed because I used to use a cheap plastic set of drawers that were a hand-me-down from a former aunt by way of marriage and my grandma's old mattresses. I recently put insurance on the childhood family car again and I plan on registering it in my name so I can drive it. And I have my driver's license finally. I've been busy adulting and it's taking a toll on my art (or at least this blog) but I love drawing and it's great for relaxing at work during lunch or after work while listening to music or waiting from my sims to load so yeah. It is slowing down at my job because where I work is very tourist driven so the majority of the snowbirds have left. Ironically I'm working more hours and like five days a week and I'm seeing less coworkers or at least certain people I'm seeing less often so I don't how this summer is gonna go. But it's good to be busy so yeah. Well, I'm going to enjoy my day off tomorrow and get some stuff done. Maybe I'll come back with more doodles on Friday. Wait, I definitely have to come back because I couldn't post one tonight. Till next time, toodles.

Because babies...

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a month, life's been busy, still is for the foreseeable future, but I have been doodling when I have free time. Heck, I bring my sketchbook when I know I'm getting an hour long lunch due to overtime so here come some doodles:

It seems random but I felt like drawing Hans on the thirteenth which happened to be the same day that Truth or Dare movie came out so Hans is bothering Elsa by suggesting playing the game. And then the other two pictures are based off of an old idea I have but I felt like drawing baby Shatterstar (Shattybaby) recently so I drew him first and then built Dazzler and Longshot around him. I feel like Longshot ended up a little too tall but maybe he's so excited to be holding a baby version of his buddy that he bounced? And then I gave Rictor the same treatment but he's being held by Jean Grey and Cyclops... because his parents are in Mexico and dead. I've got one more doodle to finish this series and I was working on it just now... but I had also planned on finishing a page in my sketchbook dedicated to the Avengers and Infinity War comes out this week and I have to close the store on Friday night 😩. Nobody at work knows about this blog yet so I think I can get away with complaining about it for now. Hope to put some life back into this blog soon.

Modern Monday

Hello! Let's start this week with fresh doodles:

Oh look, it's modern!Frozen stuff. The north is getting tortured with the cold and getting hit with northeasters so I drew the doodle up top last Friday of 75% of the crew bundled up... Elsa has forgotten how to pretend to be normal ever since letting go... I obviously like the whole couple-wearing-one-scarf thing since I did it here with Kristanna. As much as I ship Helsa, I figure Hans wouldn't want to be right next the weirdo wearing a tank top and eating a Popsicle in such freakishly cold weather. I accidentally made a joke 😨 And today I got ahead of myself and drew Hans in a tuxedo. He's dressed to the nines but isn't sure if his dance partner is going to take his hand or not. The night of the Oscars, I made a quick sketch of Jimmy Kimmel's tuxedo jacket for future reference for this piece (yes, I used my sketch as reference) because I never see a man in a tuxedo outside of TV, living in South Florida where 95-98% of the people don't know how to dress because they spend 95% of the time dressed casual with flip flops as shoes (why do I keep using percentages?). His bowtie is actually his cravat he tied into a bow. Did he not find his bowtie in his luggage? Did he forget to pack it? (My headcanon is that he packed with the essentials for starting a life in Arendelle... How else did he have a coat of his own in the movie unless he was expecting to experience winter in Arendelle eventually? Yes, that's his coat because the designs on it don't match that of the guards' coats but do match those of his other clothes.) Did he wear it as a cravat at first but then have second thoughts while wearing it in that fashion? He clearly didn't have a problem with pairing the suit with the boots. 😆 Frozen the Broadway is opening soon but I have to get so much done, like get myself a bed, my driver's license, and my car running. It's on the wishlist along with Hamilton (although my family is like all excited that he's gonna open it in Puerto Rico next year). Well, I have work till Friday (Saturday counts as next week according to my job's scheduling) so let's see if I come back this week with more doodles or not. Toodles.

Uhhhh, they're all fabulous?

Hello! My week already started but I forgot to post on Monday after work (sorry) but I have more doodles today than I did Monday, so there:

It's actually backwards but whatever. The top picture is of my latest watercolor and it's of an old OC that I revived for this art. She's not me. She's full-blood Taino from pre-colonial Cuba, whereas I'm a Cuban mutt with curly hair and a rounder face. I think I got my face shape from my Irish ancestors (yeah I have Irish. I don't how much, gotta do a DNA test), seeing as I've seen Irish women with similar faces. Maybe I should introduce her since she's here: Her name is Guey (Sun/Sunshine in Taino), she's a teen when the Spaniards reach Cuba. She actually comes from a story involving time travel but I don't know that I'll do anything with that anytime soon so it got retired a few years back. She'll probably make cameos in the future though (pun not intended). I did some research and made sure to draw Cuban flowers. My love for orchids has been explained. Before I finished the top picture today, I drew on Monday a baby Shatterstar. I got the idea Sunday night and decided to torture myself with sketching out my idea of him as a wee babby. Yes, he's naked but it's in the artistic way 😃 I was surprised to see 13 likes on Instagram with him this morning. And someone on Tumblr going by bobertdrake liked it (I get a kick out of that url). During the Oscars this past Sunday, I sketched modern!Elsa in Allison Janney's gown even though there were so many very nice gowns. I sketched out a couple of the ones that I liked. Sad thing is, the only nominated movies I saw were Star Wars and Kong:Skull Island... and neither one won anything. It was nice to see Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Marie Tran, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

It's funny that today is International Women's Day. My first ever post showcasing my art on the internet was four years ago. It did not feature any females, just two of my boy OCs, one complaining like as if he was on his period and the other informing him that is International Women's Day. A lot has happened since then. I developed both my cartoon and stylized realism style, I got into digital art, I reworked my manga style and consequently started redesigning my OCs (should draw them more often... I've been meaning to get a sketchbook just for them), I lost the ability to do digital art at the moment, I got a job, and now I've been focusing on traditional art in my free time. To think this blog started because I had too much free time. I should change that in my description... Well, I'll be going now, see you next doodle.

It's boiling down to either Disney will sue me or hire me

Hello! Well, I didn't return on Friday but I'm posting twice in the same week so that's good, right? Posting today means four doodles at once so here they are:

Yeah, half of my doodles were Hans 😆 Well, this past Tuesday was the 13th, and I have it made an unofficial decision that the 13th of every month is when I should definitely draw Hans but I don't post on Tuesdays anymore and I had work that day so I thought I'd get ahead of myself and draw him on Monday. So I drew an upset cartoon Hans. Why is he pissed? Well, he wasn't in Olaf's Frozen Adventure, I lost an index card where I had doodled him (dressed as Olaf) and still haven't found it, I dumped him for another sword-wielding redhead, and Valentine's Day was this week. It has been a rough winter for him. And then I felt the need to draw him again, but this time I drew him modern, stylized, and happy. I think I have moved on from my depression and it's starting to reflect in my drawings, which is a good thing. Then on Wednesday, I started a villains page in my X-Men sketchbook and I finished a doodle of my take on Spiral. I haven't seen an image of her in ages so I took a lot of artistic liberty with her, like I gave her no sleeves because she has too many arms for wasting fabric on them, she has bracelets on her wrists (to tell apart her arms or proof of enslavement? Who knows...), and she's got the same style boots as Shatterstar. They're Mojoverse standard issue. I also got creative with her swords because I thought it'd look cool if hers had an exotic shape. I plan on giving her alien hand syndrome, which I didn't know really existed until my sister looked into it, but I thought it would be funny if she had this one hand that had a mind of its own and didn't always behave. She was born with only two hands and was experimented on to have six hands, I don't expect her to have perfect control of them all. And then yesterday I doodled Black Panther because his movie is out now. I can't watch it this weekend because I had to buy my family's groceries (it's a long story but my dad had an issue at work and he's on workman's comp... And he's the primary breadwinner. Until now, my paycheck was 98% just for me) but I think the movie is gonna be cool once I get to see it, hope everyone watching it enjoys it. Well, I attended a wedding ceremony today (I stopped working on this blog post in order to attend) and it was very nice. Glad to finally see a wedding after not getting invited to one for so long. I'm kind of on the edge of my seat wondering what's gonna happen next Saturday. Doesn't really matter though. Hope to return on Monday with at least one fresh doodle. Till then, toodles and enjoy your weekend.

Frozen Football (as in American)

Hello. I didn't expect to post here on Friday because of my busy work schedule but I did doodle over the weekend:

How long has it been since I've drawn modern!Frozen? I don't really know but I thought of doodling them since the Superbowl was held in the home stadium of the Minnesota Vikings 😉 I actually sketched this at a bridal shower I got invited to last night but finished it at home with my colored pencils for a touch of interest. Yes, I went to a party Saturday night (I changed in the bathroom at work after clocking out) and drew in my sketchbook, that's how many guys I have fighting over taking me out to dance. There was this big group of people my age that I don't know them, only the guests of honor did, and it seems they were just there for date night/free food. It annoys me whenever I go to a party and see my age group not dancing and on their phones instead. Millennials... Who watched the Superbowl? My mom is happy the Eagles won. We basically only watch the Superbowl for the commercials and halftime show but my mom was complaining about Tom Brady and the amount of rings he has so she was actively rooting for the Eagles. I have nothing else to say except this is a very busy week for me, I won't available this Saturday and I'm working Wednesday and Thursday so let's see if I get around to doodling. I don't promise it.

Fashion dos and don'ts

Hello. Look at that, I'm posting Wednesday after I posted on Monday, yay me. I have a couple of doodles to share with you so here you go:

I must have been inspired by fashion (well I know I was for one of them) cuz here's the two extremes. I don't know why but I felt like drawing Rictor and Shatterstar in their old costumes (with some creative licensing of course. NOT drawing Ric with a Mohawk... just no) that I don't care for and I added Dani Moonstar because, as much as that outfit is pretty awesome, it's not practical. It's funny how teen Ric was trying so hard to be punk back in the 80's. I apparently can't draw men with ponytails without making them look girly. Just to make myself clear, I don't ship Ricstar. I like them but separately together, if you catch my drift. Kinda why I almost always draw a girl (usually Rahne) with them. And then I worked some more on modern!Elsa in gowns, the cartoon one is kinda old and a dress I saved a long time ago on Pinterest while the stylized one is from today after seeing a picture of Naomi Campbell in Versace (I basically copied the dresses). I'm going down a deep dark hole with the X-Men. I nerded out at the library yesterday and checked out Avengers on Blu-Ray, a Wolverine and Gambit comic book, and a book on Civilizations. I almost took out X-Factor too but I put it back. This is my first time reading any X-Men comics although I have seen movies and TV shows and read up on bios on wikis. I'm picky with comics because I'm a mental art critic and storylines get all convoluted, besides the insane amount of magic that dwell on their pages, so I prefer to not touch comics for the most part. Well, hope to come back with more doodles soon, hopefully Friday, so ttfn.

Hella Helsa Humpday + funny story

Hello. For the first time in forever, I am starting a blog post here from my computer. I plugged in my phone because that's where the picture for my most recent drawing is and it has come to my attention that I really need to backup my phone because I'm running out of space on it. 😩😠😒 Well, Friday while on Tumblr, I saw someone reblogged a drawing of mine (a modern!Hans one) and i was checking out their blog because I do that, and I came across this:

I cropped it down so I could use that picture as a drawing reference for this:

I started drawing it Friday and left finishing it for Monday morning. Well, I woke up late on Monday but I still worked on it, and maybe you can't tell but his foot gave me a heck of a hard time, and I post it on Instagram and Tumblr. The Tumblr user in the image above thanked me for the drawing and um, later on this happened on Instagram:

I don't know if you have to select the picture to see it bigger but if you're familiar with the Frozen on Broadway project that was announced over two years ago and have been keeping up with it (it will start showing on Broadway next February), then you know that those are the Instagrams of Broadway Hans (John Riddle. I don't know why I want to change it to Riddles) and Broadway Elsa (Caissie Levy. I don't know how to pronounce her name 😞). I didn't expect them to notice right away. In fact, I didn't think they'd notice. So I didn't expect this and it's like so awkward because 1. it's not like I'm really excited for the Broadway take on Frozen, it's interesting and I probably find it more interesting after finding out that Hans gets his own recurring song and he sings something of a duet with Elsa, 2. I'm not following them on Instagram. The only celebrity I'm following right now is Tom Hiddleston and he's been pretty quiet as I listen to Taylor Swift repeatedly (I did spend pretty much a year not listening to her music after they broke up and when I start listening to her again, BAM! Awesome new single) so the fact that they noticed someone who hasn't decided if they like them enough to follow them is wow. I didn't technically draw THEM, just the characters they're playing in the pose they struck up in an Instagram picture... Can't you tell I'm not used to this? Monday night I thought of posting the picture here but I didn't feel like it, I had plans of waking up early yesterday (that didn't happen) and I have more or less been following a schedule of leaving the internet and social media alone on Tuesdays and Thursdays to keep my sanity and give myself small breaks so I don't feel pressured, but posting it now means I have a story so procrastinating worked out pretty well.

I have plans on being busy during October. I am planning on joining Inktober this year with my index cards and ballpoint pen because the one that hasn't changed in a year is I'm broke, but I like the challenge. I'm stuck on some of my themes because I wrote down a few that I'd like to implement but I only when I'm going to implement two of them. I'm the idiot that decided I wanted to throw in both Frozen and my OCs in the same art challenge, ugh. I have an event this coming Sunday so I'll likely do the Inktober for that day at night. It is hard to be an artist when you're broke to a degree, but I started doing this for fun so as much as it's frustrating that I'm limited in what I can do artistically, I'm not stressing it too much right now because it's not my dreams to be a professional and work at Disney are getting crushed. I'd like to be able to make a living off of my art, but I already decided that working at Disney is probably not for me. I think I'll doodle something this Thursday just to get some more doodles done before the month ends and I become very busy. Bye for now.

Flower Crown Friday + Free Coloring Page

Hello. Today I thought I'd add a little to my Society6, especially with the new backpacks, and I ended up doing a little editing to one of my doodles with only a mouse and ended up with this:

The top one is a coloring page specifically for you to use, whether it's printed out or to add a little something-something to personal images. The bottom one was added to my Redbubble and Society6 shops. Yes, it's Hans's flower crown from that doodle I made earlier this year, minus Hans, and I finished it with only a computer mouse. It was difficult finishing the petals because I'm not adept at drawing with a mouse especially since I'm lefty and I use the mouse like a righty. I cheated pen pressure by fiddling with the brush settings. I don't plan on doing this kind of thing again, so enjoy this tiny piece of digital art from me. Till next time, I don't know if I'll come back during the weekend, so have a good one.

Monday Modern Frozen Doodle Dump

Hello. I'm back with more doodles I have produced this past week so let's go:

After drawing a modern!Frozen/Splatoon crossover in the form of Anna and
Elsa dressed as the Squid Sisters, I thought of doing more crossovers between modern!Frozen and popular Nintendo game franchises, so here are Kristoff as Link, Hans as a modified Bowser, and a Pikmin Olaf with a couple of Pikmin snowgies. Kristoff's tiny ponytail reminds me that I recently cut my hair again and I thought that would make ironing my hair straight easier than when it was long. I was wrong. Still took me two hours and I did a little comparison below to show what happens:

Yeah, it actually starts going wavy almost immediately, but I feel the next morning is always a bust so I'll just wear it as a ponytail until I wash my hair again. My mom doesn't get it because she wishes her hair was straight and she worries about looking good. I learned to appreciate my curly hair as a teenager and when I straighten my hair, I want it STRAIGHT, I don't care for volume or waves because my hair produces that on its own. But we've got a crummy old iron and a crummy old house that is humid and the climate outside is usually hot and humid... I could use a change. I've noticed that I have posted a couple of doodles on here twice because this waiting to do doodle dumps and doing it through my phone is confusing me when I add pictures so I don't realize until later that I already posted that picture, so if you scroll down my blog and see the same picture twice, just ignore it. When I remember my age, I feel old but then people that I have known for nearly a decade or maybe more ask me about school. I'm a baby-faced old lady 😒 (I love this emoji thing Google added to Blogger, if only Tumblr followed suit in the browser) I'm not old, I just feel old when I think of the time that has passed since certain stuff and how there's a whole generation of kids that aren't yet 10 or even 5 and they know how to operate a cell phone or tablet and they watch YouTube to entertain themselves. YouTube was becoming a thing when I was in middle school and I didn't care for it much because I thought it was where stupid boys put up stupid videos. That's how old I am, and yes, I'm aware that is still part of the content, but I realized how useful YouTube can be around high school when I was learning how to knit. I don't remember how I thought it would be useful for that, but yes it is. My mom once watched a video on how to breastfeed, and she had three kids who all got breastfed at some point, but if you want to learn about it or you're curious... you don't need some lactation consultant squeezing and manhandling your boobs and making you feel uncomfortable when you can watch another woman showing you how to express yourself on herself. Before I go, here's an old doodle of the Frozen crew when I first drew them in my cartoon style.

I checked Frozen out from the library again last week after a couple of months looking for it only to find the sing-along (I don't own the movie at this present time still and I don't want the sing-along because I have a sister who annoyingly feels the need to sing along, read subtitles and "talk" to the characters) and I saw it yesterday again with my parents. My dad called Hans a butthole and a drama queen. I'm not kidding and I'm not mincing words either. And nearly two years ago, when my grandma joined in on watching it with me and my friend, she called him shameless in Cuban. That happens to be sin verguenza but tends to sound like simberguenza. Useful if you come across a Cuban, because unlike me, they shamelessly speak in Spanish without caring who's around them. Well, that's what I got for now, hope to be back soon. And if you want to see digital doodles returning here, then maybe you could help me save up some money for at least a new Wacom tablet pen by shopping here. They have sales on Mondays and Thursdays if you want to get a deal. Ok, see ya soon!

I'm Hooked on a Feeling

And so I'm back... from outer space. No, I am. I finished up a little something since Friday was the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

I got the idea for a Frozen - GotG crossover back in late March/early April, starring Hans as Starlord, Elsa as Gamora, Kristoff as Rocket [Racoon], Marshamallow as Drax, and Sven as Groot. No clue who would be Nebula, but I have considered parts for Anna, Olaf, and Oaken. I didn't feel like coloring in their clothing so I let the background peek out through there 😆 It started as a much bigger picture that I started working on last Friday, but I thought it would be cool to have a version like this, so I finished this up today. Next week I'll probably finish the original version, it's just that I thought Hans and Elsa's thighs were too skinny so I didn't actually finish their legs.

Since last week, I've apparently been checking out books related to my ancestry: a book on Native American beading and leather working, one on the Celtic people, and one on wild horses (both cultures stated above were big on horses - yes, I have Irish ancestry. Probably where I get my love of red hair 💖). I already finished the horse book but I kept around for a little bit longer as reference for my horse drawing, since I have felt the need to draw them lately. I sketched a little guy last night:

The annoying thing is my phone is being read by the computers as a malfunctioned device. Don't know if it has anything to do with the account I had on my phone that I had to close down, which has impeded me from downloading or updating apps because that was the main account T-T... Don't know how I'm going to upload to Instagram if my computer won't read my phone to transfer the pictures. I need a portable external hard drive to remedy my phone (and growing collection of doodles in my computer's pictures folder), so if you can check out my Redbubble, maybe buy something, or even commission me, that'd be great. I'd open a Patreon or KoFi (idk on that spelling), but then I'd have to come up with a whole other password and I don't do so well with passwords. I currently have crappy passwords for both of my emails, I don't want to create another one for an account that might not even be able get me the support I need. Hopefully I'll have a Friday doodle.
