Spidey Saturday

Hello. I was close to posting this last Friday of May but... I didn't feel like typing at that moment (I was posting at night, which seems to be my new drawing routine) and I was also working on a sketch dump that I hoped to have done last week (but didn't, obviously) so I left this guy for later:

It's Peter B again. I really love his sweatpants so that's what I draw the most. Also, I don't feel like figuring out and drawing the webs on his boots (?) So it's just easier for me to slap some sweats on him and call it a day. This started out as part of a short Spiderverse comic I still haven't finished working on, but I like this pose and expression so much that I wanted it as a separate bookmark for myself so here he is. And now for the other doodle I was working on that delayed this post:

It's a gang of spider gals! I felt like sketching Mayday one day and it escalated to including Jessica Drew, Cindy Moon, and Gwen Stacy (comic book rendition). I have been reading Spider-Man comics since March and at this present time, I have read issues featuring all of these Spider-Women. The only one who's titular comic books I have read is Spider-Gwen's, having read her first run of comics with only five issues to it (sadly leaving the story arc on a cliffhanger with no resolution) and being stuck on issue three of her second because the site I'm using for some very odd reason won't load the page once I get to that issue. Everybody else has appeared in at least one issue during the time I read Spider-Man/Deadpool (that's actually where I started. You can yell at me later) and the Amazing Spider-Man leading up to the original Spiderverse event. For the record, I hate Morlun and associates. Idk if it's one of his weaknesses but I wanna bury him in garlic and flat out murder him with a shovel, I hate that character so much for even LOOKING at Spider-Man like he's lunch, much less that he has actually eaten Spider-Man multiple times. Only Spider-Man I don't mind being killed by him is Patton Parnell but that whole issue of Edge of Spiderverse was hard to read since they went with a sociopathic monster with that guy.

Anyway, got sidetracked there for a moment. It was fun drawing these gals because I love them all. I only drew four and ironically, as of when I made this drawing and posted to Instagram and Tumblr, the only spider-daughter who I read of in the comics was Annie May aka Spiderling, not Mayday, because I have read Renew Your Vows, first run anyway. And then Mayday showed up in a comic I read last night so yeah. Gotta read/draw a whole bunch more Spider-Women because besides leaving out Annie May, there's Ultimate Jessica Drew (a clone of that universe's Spider-Man), Anya Corazon, Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin... I might do a part two to this doodle but I'll probably take a break and then doodle something else that I put on the back burner. Enjoy your weekend and your summer (winter for the southern hemisphere), guys. Till next doodle, toodles.

Springing into Summer (plus some dinos)

Hello. So I'm back with some cute looking doodles that I wanna share with you:

I came up with the concept for this one two years ago (you can see the original in this post) and since I've been redrawing my seasonal chibis, I redrew this one too. Besides the style obviously changing, I decided to change the boy's outfit to a jinbei. I thought the weird kimono with pants thing was weird so I decided to look up male kimonos and I discovered the jinbei, which are basically pajamas but they are becoming increasingly popular to wear to summer events so, as much as this is supposed to be picturing Hanami/spring, it's getting hot where I live so summer crept into this version a little bit. I made sure to leave his sleeves and pants longer so that it didn't look too much like summer. I also thought of adding a pattern to his clothes and I thought "dinosaurs" so I made a couple of these silhouetted cartoon dinosaurs but only managed to get the sauropod in there:

They're both green because that was the accent color in his outfit but I might do more colors/dinos to add some diversity later. I'll probably draw some more Spider-verse stuff or maybe New Girl related stuff soon (I have a couple of Spider-verse drafts already) but I don't know how soon I'll finish anything so till next doodle, toodles.

Is Your Beach Body Ready?

Hello. Are you ready to be amazed? Well, are you? I don't think you are but I'm gonna post it anyway because I have to post it, I barely did any art for April. Prepare to be amazed:

Yeah, I made two versions because I got tired once I did my traditional black lineart but the plan was always to do a version with recolored lineart so I eventually spent more time on it. I say eventually because I got into New Girl. I recommend it to my fellow adults who barely feel like adults. Anyway, it has come to my attention that I have improved in my abilities, that includes capturing anatomy correctly, so I had to redraw this masterpiece from four years ago (yes, it has been that long... I hate time). Now he doesn't have pointy pecs anymore and he actually looks he's sitting/reclining in that lousily designed lounge chair. Maybe in another four years I'll redraw a better, more accurate wooden lounge chair. It was nice revisiting a fun drawing concept and improving upon it. I just suck at staying focused on a drawing when it requires lots of attention to detail. I love details, don't get me wrong, but I'm almost considering making my (hopefully) future comics in chibi form to avoid growing tired of every panel. Also, I'd have to draw backgrounds 😬😭 We'll see how that works out. Maybe I can draw the backgrounds as separate images and just copy them whenever I need them. I'll deal with that dilemma later. Expect to see either a cartoon or chibi drawing next because I need a break from the detail-driven art style that is manga. Till next doodle, toodles.

May the Fourth be with you... At the beach

Hello. So I had hoped to finish some more stuff in April but I also warned that I had a busy month ahead of me so not like I didn't say anything. I'm not totally done with what I'm working on but I have something for today so let's get crackin'.

I have less than a half hour left of Star Wars day and I spent it grabbing a Spider-Man comic on free comic book day (my local comic book store ran out of the free Star Wars comic when I showed up), wearing a Jurassic Park t-shirt at the beach, and doodling the women that drive the story throughout the saga interacting with water. It's just been nerd day for me. May the force be with you tonight .

Protect Our Planet (with your fists)

Hello. I've been working on something and remembered to throw some content on here:
Remember to punch recycle! I just drew this today because it was less complicated than redrawing an old piece that I ended up posting on Earth Day so many years ago (it's been five years... I feel so old). It wasn't in chibi form originally but I was working in my usual manga style before deciding it would be easier and faster if I drew them as chibis. Oh yeah, these are some of my Bittersweet OCs: Saru, Sora, Sandra, and Mike. Mike is very aware that he sticks out like a sore thumb. Don't ask me why I thought t-shirts was the way to go but I thought it was genius and rolled with it. I also thought of an alternate version that has nothing to do with my OCs (surprising? I think not) but I am making an effort to focus on my OCs. I've been neglecting them yet again. The something I've been working on (still working on it) is also OC related so look out for that. I probably could have had it done much sooner if I didn't get caught up with New Girl. After years of wanting to watch it (and then forgetting its existence because we haven't watched our local Fox channel in the longest), I have finally discovered the gold that is New Girl. I've only seen season one but I am most certainly in love. Expect it to creep into future content later on. Well, I hope to be finishing my other project soon but till then, toodles.

I Think You're Gonna Be a Bad Parent (actually he'd be a dream)

Hello! I finally finished a comic I have been working on since February so here it is:

Yeah, Noir and Ham show up (to congratulate Peter on his baby I guess) and Peter decides to just crush Ham's hopes and dreams... while holding a baby. His baby, obviously. I did my best to leave the baby as gender neutral as possible but adding eyelashes made the baby feminine to me although my cartoon style has feminine characters with defined lips. Tom Hardy is the exception with me incorporating his lips in my style but doing it in a way that still makes him look masculine. Notice I left out lips on the baby so you could look at it as a lashy boy named either Ben or Miles (this is after the events of Spider-verse, after all) or a little Annie May/Mayday (I like both names so I can't decide who this baby would represent so I just did a reddish brown for hair, that way you know MJ is the mom). I got this idea after reading a tweet on Instagram that says pretty much what Noir says. Makes sense to me since fairy tales, lullabies, and nursery rhymes have rather dark origins. (shouldn't we be questioning the little piggy eating roast beef?) So yeah, I came up with this idea of the two human Peters messing with their swine counterpart. To be fair, Noir is probably saying this because he thought it was common knowledge. Because it took me so long to finish this comic, I thought I'd gift you with a little bit of my process:

Oh wow... he... um... looks bloody with just the red there.

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse. It is a very good thing that the classic Spider-Man costume has a pretty significant amount of blue to counter that rather bright red. I've been taking a break from drawing today (because I need it) but I do have plans for another Spider-verse comic and to get back to work on my OCs. Also, I should finish setting up for that video series I thought of doing which I mentioned in my last post. I have a busy month ahead of me so just bear with me. I posted this last night on both my Instagram and Tumblr and I was surprised with how popular it got on both sites. I'm not used to getting over twenty likes on anything. A couple of the rebloggers on Tumblr feel sorry for Ham so I should probably take it easy on him next time. Well, till next doodle, toodles.

I return...

Hey, I've been missing from this blog for all of March... I suck. It's partly because my last week of work was a busy one (you read that right. Last week of work. I retired myself from working retail. It was fun getting a weekly paycheck while it lasted), and then I have been spending the past couple of weeks just doodling all over the place (I started a comic last month and I still haven't finished it, instead just hopping from one doodle to another and back again) and reading Spider-Man and Deadpool. Yeah, I'm finally reading a Spider-Man comic series and it happens to be the one he shares with Deadpool. It's ending soon and I have become obsessed with Spider-Man as of late so I decided to give it a try. I pulled myself away from starting issue #46 to post this, you're welcome. Before this paragraph keeps going on this tangent, scroll down and behold:

Something of a reference sheet for my spidersona Cobweb (oh yeah, spoiler: she's just an alternate version of me when unmasked), the color scheme she almost had, and this quick doodle I did Wednesday of myself upset over Thanos snapping half the MCU out of existence. Did you scream when you saw Shuri's poster? Because I did. And I was sick so my voice wasn't all that normal. I may turn crowbar Michi into a series. Imagine: me/Cobweb approaching a fictional bad guy that has somehow wronged Peter Parker (more like killed), and then beating them within an inch of their life with a crowbar. Sounds like fun. You know what else sounds like fun? Me recording videos of myself criticizing critiquing comic book art because this girl is picky when it comes to art. I'll put a manga back simply because I wasn't happy with the art style. And then when I read that manga, I realize I'm an idiot because it happens to be a story I love. Anyway, I've been thinking of doing videos where I look at comic book art and nitpick at whatever doesn't seem right to me. I may also focus on character design, staying in-character, different interpretations of characters, the logic and loopholes within story arcs, etc etc. Technically, I'm an amateur and haven't taken a single collegiate class in my life but I fancy myself an artist and story writer, I am observant, and I have opinions. Would I do this regularly? Probably not, I am an inconsistent human being. I also have a busy April ahead of me, considering I still have projects I would like to finish. Plus, I don't know where to start so it might take a while just to launch. But this is better than me doing that weird AU-roleplaying-Frozen thing in the Sims, right?  Speaking of the Sims, why is there no Venom or Spiderverse custom content? Do I have to make it myself? Well, enjoy your weekend. Hopefully I'll come back next week with something. I have two old drawings I wanna redraw next month, hopefully I'll get around to that. Till next doodle, toodles.
