Monday Music

Hello. I actually went out this weekend to a party that my grandparents invited me to (they were invited and they asked if they could bring me along because I barely get to go to parties) and I doodled while I was there this Saturday:

Ok, you must be thinking why would you doodle at a party? Well, why would you go to a party just to spend your time eating and wasting time on your phone? Millennials, I swear. I brought a couple of index cards and my pencil and eraser along in case I got bored, and with the amount of young people that ignore my presence and old people having conversations among themselves, it was a good choice. I have something of an unspoken rule that I must dance when I hear Selena come on. No, not Selena Gomez, the Selena that inspired Selena Gomez, the first woman to become popular in Tejano music and make Tejano music popular. I have spent my entire life listening to and cherishing her music and when her song comes on at a party, I get up to dance, whether I'm good at dancing or not (I'm a novice. If my mom had her way, I would be an expert by now but that wouldn't guarantee dance partners at parties because of the millennial problem mentioned above). And I doodled a tiny cartoon of her, with a lumpy face. She's as big as my thumbnail, that's how tiny she is. And then I didn't get to finish a doodle involving dancing, partly because Chacha Slide came on and since middle school, I have been dancing that song whenever it comes on at a party, which is easy because it tells you what to do, and partly because after the cake, we left... so Elsa's dancing with a headless man. And yesterday I finished Elsa's dance partner and even her dress so here it is:

Yeah, I'm starting to draw outright Helsa. If you can't tell by the clothes, it's my modern AU. On both Instagram and Tumblr, I put the following: "I don't dance." "Well, I'm changing that."... Someone has to, cuz Hans can't spend the rest of his life with Anna as his dance partner and horses aren't allowed on the dance floor 😆 they look pretty cozy though... The party in question was a bridal shower, so I am apparently turning to drawing my OTP when encountering happy couples. I had a good time at the party, mostly because I didn't go with high expectations but just to relax and have a change of scenery. I need to have the same mentality with future parties, because I have fun in the moment, but then I crash and burn and I'm upset with guys in my generation for being idiots.

I'm on the lookout for Hurricane Irma, which is looking to be headed in my area. I say, watch out for the wildlife. There aren't many birds around here anymore and my dad and I saw a turtle walking down our street yesterday, far from neighborhood canals, so we're doing what we can to get ourselves ready. Hurricane Matthew last year was all hype, we got ready, I got hurricane hair from letting my dogs out one last time before getting cooped up... and I woke up to electricity, running water, wifi, and a few leaves that fell off our trees. Other people did suffer damage from it, but I got supremely lucky. Methinks another Hamilton isn't going to rise up from the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, cuz she's going to pass over the group of islands featuring St. Kitts and Nevis (you'll get it if you're in the fandom). I'll probably produce some doodles later on, but we'll likely get hit this weekend with a force of nature so I don't know when I'll come back here.

Oh, and in case you read this before midnight PT, Society6's labor day sale ends tonight and so does Redbubble's. I applied for Walmart last week because of a friend, and I haven't heard anything. I won't be disappointed if I don't get hired, but I would like to make some money 😄 Alright, well I'll be going. Hopefully I'll be back before Hurricane time.

Why is my blogger getting so many views for my Tom Brady meme? WHY?

Force Friday meme and then some (and an important PSA for hurricane season)

Hello. I'm sorry, but I haven't been really in a doodling mood but in a meme mood so here's what I made today to finish off this week:

Same meme, different subjects. So today is Force Friday? I took the same girlfriend vs other girl meme base I used earlier this week to make another meme based off it and made two different ones, which isn't very hard if you know what you're doing. Top one is based off of The Force Awakens, a.k.a. 7, because as much as I don't really ship Reylo, Kylo doesn't know how to act like he doesn't have a crush on Rey. The second one is totally me and I'm probably the only person who can relate to this. As if this blog, my Tumblr and my Instagram aren't proof enough of my problem of ignoring my OCs for Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, I don't know what is, but here's a meme for it anyway. And I've got something else for you, too:

I made a gif! And it's not an animation nor is it Frozen related... wait, what? So I happen to love Taylor Swift's newest and latest hit (I like just about all her hits. No, I don't identify as Swiftie nor do I take sides in her feuds expect for the Kim and Kanye one. I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole) and it's almost eternally stuck in my head. I keep thinking of Frozen when I hear it but Mother Gothel is just so good for it too, especially the section of lyrics I selected for the gif, so you're seeing her first. Also, I don't own a copy of Frozen or the song in question and I don't have good video editing software, so that can wait, along with my animation idea for Blank Space. Society6 is having a labor day sale that started today and it ends Monday at 11:59 pm PT, so go check it out so I don't have to draw tiny on scrap paper or make memes anymore... unless you actually like that, but that wasn't the point of this blog when I made it. I have been neglecting advertising my Redbubble, but if you want to check that out, too, go ahead. I won't judge. Have a good weekend everybody... and yet I am being selective as I write this

Just a PSA about hurricanes because we need to learn how to effectively prepare for them still: yes, I know hurricanes suck and they cause a lot of damage, but there is a lot you can do to prevent hardship afterwards. No, I don't mean have another house in a state or country not affected by hurricanes or have a huge bank account. That would be nice but who are we kidding? Most people living in hurricane zones have a hard time making enough to live. If you hear there is the possibility of a hurricane coming to your area, start getting prepared. Check to see if you are in a mandatory evacuation zone, look for shelters (especially if you have animals because few shelters allow animals and abandoned animals break people's hearts while thinking who could possibly do such a thing), start buying supplies like water, gas, etc... if you have to evacuate, don't wait till the last minute. Birds migrate before a storm comes, only ibises are the last to leave before a hurricane. Leaving last minute gets you either stuck in traffic or stuck in a storm and not everybody survives. You've got shutters? Good, put them up. You don't? Buy if you can, or get some sheets of plywood if you can afford it. And if you can't afford it, tape your windows from the inside. I weathered Hurricanes Jeanne and Francis in a second floor apartment with only tape on the windows. No broken windows even though we watched the sliding doors of the balcony concave in from the wind. Use masking or duct tape, not invisible. Not everyone can afford a pickup truck or likes them, but pickup trucks are great when streets are flooded because they're taller and their engines won't get damaged in the water. That's of course if the water isn't waist deep with a strong current. Be prepared for no running water or electricity after the storm. Oh, and mosquitoes are very active after a storm. Baby powder is great for keeping you from getting sweaty and from getting bug-bitten. I can't give every tip as I've only been through maybe three hurricanes in my lifetime and they weren't that bad, not in my personal experience, but there are plenty of sites to help you get information. Your local news station is a great source. Just stay safe. It sucks having to hear of all the damage and deaths that these storms cause, but if we can learn from it, then that makes us better.

I couldn't think of anything witty, sorry (will probably retitle later)

Hello. I set up the pictures in this post on Monday but I didn't feel like posting then so here goes:

It's an eclectic mess, I know. So I've been learning Love is an Open Door in Danish... I have a bit difficulty with that, but I got curious about the opening remarks made by Anna and Hans because to English-speaking ears, it sounds like they're talking about skirts. So I went to Google Translate, not expecting the best translation but wanting a basic idea, and translated the word skørt (pronounced just like skirt) all by itself and it supposedly does mean skirt. So I typed the whole sentence with skørt in context... Anna's question translated well and is close enough to the original English. Hans's not so much. If you're Danish or know the language, please tell me if he's actually saying he's crazy with crazy or something close. Middle picture is an actual doodle of mine. I made children over the weekend. Cartoon children that is. Their names were cut out in the process of posting on Instagram but that makes it a bigger surprise when I start implementing them in future ideas 😊 And bottom is that new meme going around, the girlfriend vs other girl meme, and I made one related to Frozen because yeah, that is how I treat the other characters. I was happy to see Sven cameo in Moana and Anna and Elsa getting new outfits for the new short coming in November, but I'm more interested in whether Hans will make an appearance in the short and/or the sequel. I know have a problem, do you? I might make another meme from this, or introduce other ones because Taylor Swift's new song has me inspired. Who knows? I also don't know how much longer I will have all this free time to do stuff like this because a friend called to tell me that they were opening positions in the Walmart she works at, I'll know by Sunday if I'll be considered for hiring. I don't plan on being a Walmart employee for long, hopefully just long enough to buy some stuff like SOMETHING TO DRAW DIGITALLY WITH AGAIN, an external hard drive and more usb's, Sims DLC, and save up for other stuff... Hopefully I'll come back with something, doodles or memes, on Friday.

When will my life begin? (a question I ask myself on occasion)

Hello, I'm back with more doodles! And they're Tangled characters in my cartoon style! Yay!

Back when Tangled first came out in 2010, I was like, yeah they hadn't done Rapunzel, finally. And then thanks to my sister who is spoiler happy and absolutely can't wait to watch the movie when it's announced, I found out her hair is magical. I was upset that they made that a thing, and I had to find out because that sister I mentioned earlier had to look at a coloring book that Disney released before the movie. WHY, DISNEY? WHY THE SPOILERS? (this is like releasing doll versions of Merida's brothers that you could turn them into bears... I was suspicious of that. Or releasing Let It Go so that I could be tempted to skip over that song while watching Frozen for the first time) But I eventually did watch it and it's a nice movie. It's well written, the characters are developed and there is good character development, Mother Gothel in my opinion is a very well written villain and very well designed. Hans could have been that villain if production of Frozen wasn't rushed at the last minute with its rewrite and new developments. I'm not dissing Frozen or discrediting Hans as a bad guy (you know how I feel), but I am questioning whether he actually didn't genuinely care for Anna and Elsa or if that was just another act of his. On the other hand, Mother Gothel is designed to visibly juxtapose Rapunzel and is an abusive parent in a subtle enough way that it isn't traumatizing to children but still understandable. While young, she is attractive in her own right but she has features like jutting cheekbones and cold gray eyes that belie her true nature, and they had the detail of her aging when she wasn't with Rapunzel. I also love Mother Knows Best. Everyone loves And At Last I See The Light (what a long title), but I prefer Mother Knows Best and I've Got A Dream. Similar with Frozen where I prefer Love is an Open Door and For The First Time In Forever over Let It Go (I got over my initial annoyance with it but I don't want a repeat in Frozen 2). And as much as I did go into a rant earlier this year over Moana, I admit the music is good (it's Lin-Manuel Miranda for crying out loud) but I prefer Where You Are and We Know the Way to How Far I'll Go. I also like how Tamatoa parodies the stereotypical villain and how Te Ka was actually Te Fiti minus her heart and Maui gets forgiven by his former victim. Disney has been spending the past few movies not killing off the bad guy, which is good because that teaches children that people have the capability to change for the better and be forgiven, that it could simply be a bad lapse in judgment that leads them to follow that bad way, which gives me hope that Hans will be back in the sequel because he was the very first in this new trend of not killing off the bad guy. Thinking about how different Frozen was going to be before all the rewrites, I'd love to see how it would have turned out with an evil Elsa but I'm also scared that Hans would have ended up dying, especially since at some point, Anna and Hans had actually gotten married without Elsa's consent (I think) and he was a minor bad guy even when Elsa was evil I think, so unless they did like Snow White and had Kristoff just be a help and not end up with Anna at the end, so it looks a lot like Hans would have been dead, whether it was by execution or Elsa's own hand. That was a long sentence. And since I got on the topic of dying villains, MOTHER GOTHEL IS THE ONLY DISNEY VILLAIN TO DIE OF OLD AGE. She's also pretty terrifying when you stop and think about how she was quick to grab a dagger, quick to threaten anyone in her way, quick to knock out the Stabbington brothers, quick to stab Flynn... She spent centuries cheating death with that magic flower, as evidenced by her outdated medieval dress, there must have been people that questioned how she hadn't aged, people that outright asked her about her age, people that become suspicious of her. She wanted Flynn dead because he knew about Rapunzel's existence and took her out of the tower, she could have very easily killed whoever questioned her long existence prior. Mother Gothel couldn't travel too far from her precious flower, but it seems to me she would have had to be a bit nomadic to keep suspicion from her... I am putting a lot of thought into a villain that ended up dead. It'd be cool to see a backstory for her. I am happy that Tangled got a TV show because, it may not be a sequel or a broadway show, but it gets seasons, and there are more adventures in seasons of a TV show than there are in sequels and Hollywood has become too sequel happy in order to get more bang from their profitable ideas, which tires out audiences and the original idea. I love Frozen, but it's been nearly four years already and they're still marketing it and now there's Moana which is stealing some of the love and then you've got this mini marketing war between Frozen and Moana. *Sigh* ANYWAY, I do have plans of including modern renditions of Tangled characters in modern!Frozen, that is if I ever get around to my ideas that I have for it. Well, hope you guys have a good weekend and Hurricane Harvey doesn't cause too much damage.

If you can, please check out my Redbubble and Society6. It would help me get back to digital doodles and I could add more doodles more frequently here and to those shops in the future. Redbubble has sales every Monday and Thursday, in case you want to save money.

Wacky Wednesday

Hello. So I'm back as scheduled with more stuff. First I present two doodles:

Did I mention that on Saturday I freaked out and went to my grandparents' for a little R&R? No? Well, I did because I found out through Instagram that a friend of mine got engaged and I freaked out so bad all by myself, which I didn't want to. So I somehow thought it was good idea to draw Helsa that day. The day I can make a digital rendition, I'll add the phrase power couple because that was what I intended to do. Elsa was supposed to have a flower crown too but there's no such thing as layers when drawing on paper so I opted for not totally messing up both crown and hair by attempting that. Funny thing is, my newly engaged friend loves Frozen so she'd probably appreciate some related giftart in the near future. The other doodle I did today of an old OC that I have redesigned and renamed to be Isoke. She was formally known as Isis but I think you know what made me change that. She's black and she was among my first manga OCs, so I think it was time to give her some love and revisit her story. I can't explain her background at this present time but I had retired for a good while along with her friends so they're all back in development. And now, I said I'd be back with pictures from the eclipse:

That is a welding mask selfie. We couldn't get eclipse glasses and turned out the welding mask's lens wasn't in good condition so I couldn't actually see the peak of our partial eclipse, but I think I caught pictures of the moon and sun getting in position for it, that's how I interpret those bright circles in the other picture. It was still cool that it actually happened. I hope to see the one coming in 2024 better. I don't know if I'll come back with more doodles on Friday. If I do, hopefully they'll be because I checked out Tangled from the library yesterday and plan on seeing it today. Society6 is having a sale on backpacks and assorted accessories for 20% off with free shipping that ends midnight tonight PT. If you want to check it out and snag a deal, be my guest. I could use at least $30 to get a replacement digital drawing pen (hopefully they'll be available again), and if I can get to at least $100, I could get myself an external hard drive to give myself space for more doodles and the size variations I have to make for Society6 products. Either way, I hope to be back soon.

A Total Eclipse of the Heart (so cliché)

Hello! I'm feeling better this Monday because... ECLIPSE!!! It'll be a partial for me but still it made me draw a doodle for today:

Instead of the usual modern!Frozen crew, I drew our American princesses Tiana and Pocahontas enjoying the celestial view. I did this yesterday to make sure I had it ready on time. This was the first time drawing Tiana ever and a first for Pocahontas in cartoon style. I wish I could have done them digitally *sigh*. If you'd like to help me get back to digital doodles soon, Society6 is having a sale that is ending today midnight PT: 20% off everything and free shipping. Below is a sample from my shop:

Redbubble is also having 20% off everything sale so check my other shop with the code GOBACK20. I'll post pictures of the eclipse later along with more doodles so come back Wednesday.

Saturday Doodle Dump

Sorry if this looks all weird, I'm posting from my phone. Here are some more doodles for the weekend:

I did bubble letters and doodled my adopted dogs yesterday for today's Clear the Shelters event. My dogs are Cindy the lab mix and Daisy the Chihuahua mix. Cindy had spent a long time in the pound when we got her and she was a steal at $20 because she was pet of the week. Daisy was because my dad realized my mom preferred smaller dogs and still missed our other dog who had died before. And today I outlined a personal project of mine of making this giftart of Aidan. The lines are wobbly and it isn't as good as I would have liked but it's the thought that counts so I hope this kid appreciates the gesture very much, especially since this is one of my brain babies.

And this was a happy coincidence that happened yesterday eating at Taco Bell. I thought this would make a good drawing or writing prompt, taking these sauce packets with their phrases on them and making up some sort of story with them. I'll add more pictures in the future for anyone that's interested and doesn't have access to these. Well, I guess I'll be around. Have a good weekend.
