Hella Helsa Humpday + funny story

Hello. For the first time in forever, I am starting a blog post here from my computer. I plugged in my phone because that's where the picture for my most recent drawing is and it has come to my attention that I really need to backup my phone because I'm running out of space on it. πŸ˜©πŸ˜ πŸ˜’ Well, Friday while on Tumblr, I saw someone reblogged a drawing of mine (a modern!Hans one) and i was checking out their blog because I do that, and I came across this:

I cropped it down so I could use that picture as a drawing reference for this:

I started drawing it Friday and left finishing it for Monday morning. Well, I woke up late on Monday but I still worked on it, and maybe you can't tell but his foot gave me a heck of a hard time, and I post it on Instagram and Tumblr. The Tumblr user in the image above thanked me for the drawing and um, later on this happened on Instagram:

I don't know if you have to select the picture to see it bigger but if you're familiar with the Frozen on Broadway project that was announced over two years ago and have been keeping up with it (it will start showing on Broadway next February), then you know that those are the Instagrams of Broadway Hans (John Riddle. I don't know why I want to change it to Riddles) and Broadway Elsa (Caissie Levy. I don't know how to pronounce her name 😞). I didn't expect them to notice right away. In fact, I didn't think they'd notice. So I didn't expect this and it's like so awkward because 1. it's not like I'm really excited for the Broadway take on Frozen, it's interesting and I probably find it more interesting after finding out that Hans gets his own recurring song and he sings something of a duet with Elsa, 2. I'm not following them on Instagram. The only celebrity I'm following right now is Tom Hiddleston and he's been pretty quiet as I listen to Taylor Swift repeatedly (I did spend pretty much a year not listening to her music after they broke up and when I start listening to her again, BAM! Awesome new single) so the fact that they noticed someone who hasn't decided if they like them enough to follow them is wow. I didn't technically draw THEM, just the characters they're playing in the pose they struck up in an Instagram picture... Can't you tell I'm not used to this? Monday night I thought of posting the picture here but I didn't feel like it, I had plans of waking up early yesterday (that didn't happen) and I have more or less been following a schedule of leaving the internet and social media alone on Tuesdays and Thursdays to keep my sanity and give myself small breaks so I don't feel pressured, but posting it now means I have a story so procrastinating worked out pretty well.

I have plans on being busy during October. I am planning on joining Inktober this year with my index cards and ballpoint pen because the one that hasn't changed in a year is I'm broke, but I like the challenge. I'm stuck on some of my themes because I wrote down a few that I'd like to implement but I only when I'm going to implement two of them. I'm the idiot that decided I wanted to throw in both Frozen and my OCs in the same art challenge, ugh. I have an event this coming Sunday so I'll likely do the Inktober for that day at night. It is hard to be an artist when you're broke to a degree, but I started doing this for fun so as much as it's frustrating that I'm limited in what I can do artistically, I'm not stressing it too much right now because it's not my dreams to be a professional and work at Disney are getting crushed. I'd like to be able to make a living off of my art, but I already decided that working at Disney is probably not for me. I think I'll doodle something this Thursday just to get some more doodles done before the month ends and I become very busy. Bye for now.

Fantastically Diverse Friday

Hello. It is friday, and the first day of fall... And I've got fresh doodles for you, isn't it a great day?

So... I drew a boy (who's parents I've drawn here before. He's a fan character) and his eventual wife. I doodled the two of them Tuesday night partly because I thought of having this character end up with a chunky girl considering I tend to keep my female characters slim and if I say anything about the men, that would be an incriminating spoiler so I won't. They received quite a bit of love from Instagram (I'm not very popular anywhere so 10 likes is love) but not from Tumblr. Is it because they're a straight couple and I started it off with Dis TRUE LOVE ❤? On Wednesday I doodled Rictor because Mexico experienced a deadly earthquake on Tuesday and on that day specifically, I was going 'Richter, what'd you do?' (cue Look What You Made Me Do) but he would have felt horrible about it so there he is saying ¡AY MI MADRE! in anguish. Ah, I remembered a word I barely use at the right time πŸ˜ƒ Underneath anxious little Julio Richter is Aidan's mom as a teen getting pissed that she couldn't swim in the community pool because it's no longer summer πŸ˜’ I actually don't technically have this problem seeing as how I live in Florida and it's pretty much eternal summer (Elsa is so appealing from here) but I also don't have a pool and most people we know that have access to one don't invite us so yeah, whatever. I only have one bathing suit anyway and don't feel very comfortable in anything revealing, especially with my thigh area (stomach can be easily covered, thighs are another problem), so I mind mostly when it's really hot and good pool weather. I didn't draw the fence there straight so I have this joke that some hooligans messed it up. Ok then, I hope you guys have a good weekend, including Mexico and Puerto Rico since they've been having it bad lately. No good weekend for people playing with explosives, though, no good 😣

Manic Monday (I've used this as a title before but i can't think of anything else right now)

Hello. I was hoping to doodle something for last Friday but I didn't. I heard there was an update in the Sims 4 that added CAS items and things in build and buy mode so I played that for a little. Not as any of my Sims though, because I started a whole new save folder where I do rotational play as the townies so I was trying to get the Calientes in relationships. Nina was on a date with a guy who didn't want her flirting with him even though he invited her. I've been doodling since yesterday so let's go:

So the top one is that I wanted to design a curvy Brazilian girl who may someday ride her giant wolf thing into the Amazon. She'd be residing in the same universe as those aliens I started introducing in like 2015. You can check out my blog in that timeframe. Yeah, her wolf thing is actually alien in origin and can shapeshift/sizeshift to look like a tiny little Pomeranian. Probably would make more sense if it could become a husky but I wanted something tiny. The second drawing is from last night and today, Anna Farris and Allison Janney from last night's Emmys. Their little skit last night reminded me of certain characters and I actually had planned two versions of this but I'll leave that for when I go back to digital, which will hopefully be sometime soon, you know, before the end of the year. And third drawing is also from today because I lost power again. Yay. I had my computer on, I googled reference for the Emmys drawing (which is missing hands), I planned on finally editing some more speedpaint videos for YouTube, but nope. Waiting for the power to come back (we're making due with our generator again) was boring so I doodled a fan character that was only drawn twice in that Disney wannabe style and it sucked. She needs some love because I have been drawing her parents lately (I think you can guess who). I'll give you a guess anyway: She looks a lot like her dad but there's some influence from her mom too. Let's see what doodles I'll come up with later and if I can load my videos to YouTube. I have two parts of a speedpaint there already, plus three episodes from when I was making Sims videos. My channel name is not michdoodles, because it was before I came up with the moniker and started using it everywhere and blogging my doodles/art, it's actually michisayskonichiwa. I think I'll change the name to better match my other online presences. I'm also thinking I could reedit the videos I have there, although windows movie maker stopped working with my Sims videos after a crash. Yes, I use windows movie maker to edit my videos. I'm broke, I can't afford any other editing software. My sister has discovered and has been watching these artist youtubers and I want to try my hand at more traditional art, which would require getting a sketchbook, pencils, erasers, other art supplies... Last year, I applied for work at Publix. This year, I applied for Target and a week before the worry of preparing for Irma, I also applied for Walmart because a friend heard there were openings at her job. Target said no, I haven't heard from WalMart and it may be because of Irma. I've thought of starting traditional commissions or a patreon but I don't want to say I'm doing it and then nothing. If I were to open a patreon, I would have a $10 goal for a new sketchbook and pencils, a $30 goal for a new tablet pen, and a $100 goal to get a portable external hard drive to store my digital art and possibly start my comic ideas. I don't know if I'll do that but I have thought that out. Traditional commissions would be harder because that requires physical paper, me drawing as good as I can leaving barely any eraser marks and that would take a while. I don't know right now, I just wanna stop being broke and get back to digital and progress in my art, you know? Eh, just wait and see later this week.

Wonderful Wednesday (wow)

I HAVE POWER AND INTERNET AGAIN!!! The poor people that restored it, though... There was some drama up the block with some stupid neighbors. Anyway, I have a couple more doodles today (boredom) so let's go!

The formatting will be fixed eventually when I get on my computer but, ay, they're both Hans related. Well, the top one is I thought a little more on that whole OC-Frozen crossover (I drew Aidan replacing Elsa a month or two ago) yesterday so I doodled a tiny, wonky Tamiko replacing Hans. You may be thinking it's completely genderbent... I'm keeping that to myself for now. And I had to draw modern!Hans and I thought I'd draw him eating some wienerbrΓΈd (I love how easy my phone makes it to type that πŸ’–) and thinking of a sale. Redbubble will have a sale tomorrow and Society6 might have another sale this Sunday like they did when I had a hurricane knocking over trees and my electricity, but hey, I like a good sale. It'd be better if I had money, but I like deals. If you're interested, I'm michdoodles on both sites. I don't remember if I mentioned it here yesterday, but I'm considering doing either traditional commissions or opening a Patreon (or both), but I do have my qualms about it. In the case of Patreon, it's as simple as another account and password to keep track of and if it will even receive traffic. In the case of traditional commissions, it's the supplies and shipping that worries me. Oh, I don't like how his face turned out but whatever. Let's see if I come back Friday with more doodles 😊

Hurricane Irma knocked down a tree and my internet but I'm a-ok

Posting from my phone, don't mind the wonky format. Good news and bad news: The good news is I'm alive and there wasn't much damage. The bad news is that my power went out and the backup battery for our wifi doesn't work, which is absolutely wonderful for someone who normally spends a lot of time on the internet for entertainment purposes. I don't like the boredom but I can keep my mind busy anyway. It's my sister who ruins everything with her complaining. Well, I've got doodles from before and after the storm so here goes:

These are the doodles I managed to produce last week right before the storm. I spent most of last week prepping for the storm and not much of it on my computer or the internet. But my mom had us watching the news and Irma's path (this has been the year of my mom watching tv and trying to get everybody else to do it with her. I'm tired of tv. I accidentally watch it if I'm sitting in the living room, probably eating dinner) and the Caribbean was horribly battered by her wrath, including the island that Alexander Hamilton called home before he came to the states ("colonies") and became a founding father, so there's a cartoon rendition of a young Alexander Hamilton during that great hurricane of 1772. And Irma was the size of France (10 Delawares according to Stephen Colbert, Texas according to my local news), so I thought of Lafayette.

And right after the storm passed, I drew a little doodle to show I was ok. I decided to doodle a tree that fell in my front yard onto my fence. Before we lost power, our security cameras were still working and I saw that the tree had fallen. We opened our front door to take a better look and that turned into our tv when the power went. I don't recommend it but our front door faces north and the wind was blowing from the southeast. We also had a couple of shutters on the front door, not that that would have helped if the wind decided to change direction and throw something at us. We were scared of our palm tree going down but I saw evidence yesterday of our mango tree nearly going. That survived thankfully. That tree that fell was only ours because it grew in our property but not because we actually planted it there, and my mom wanted it cut down. It did mess up our fence but my dad fixed it yesterday. And an incident with our generator meant no power at all in the house today while my dad was at work so I doodled Tamiko with a slight redesign because there was nothing better to do. Posting on Instagram and Tumblr was frustrating. I could finally get it to post on instagram once I climbed a tree in our front yard. I had to wait over an hour for my dad to come back because Tumblr wasn't cooperating. Well, hopefully I will get power back soon and I'll have more doodles by Friday. I spent some time scouring the radio for music and my god, music sucks lately. The best music I've heard this year so far is Sia, Adele, Chained to the Rhythm, Shape of You, and Look What You Made Me Do. Out of the new stuff, that's all I care for. Ok, well, ttfn.

Monday Music

Hello. I actually went out this weekend to a party that my grandparents invited me to (they were invited and they asked if they could bring me along because I barely get to go to parties) and I doodled while I was there this Saturday:

Ok, you must be thinking why would you doodle at a party? Well, why would you go to a party just to spend your time eating and wasting time on your phone? Millennials, I swear. I brought a couple of index cards and my pencil and eraser along in case I got bored, and with the amount of young people that ignore my presence and old people having conversations among themselves, it was a good choice. I have something of an unspoken rule that I must dance when I hear Selena come on. No, not Selena Gomez, the Selena that inspired Selena Gomez, the first woman to become popular in Tejano music and make Tejano music popular. I have spent my entire life listening to and cherishing her music and when her song comes on at a party, I get up to dance, whether I'm good at dancing or not (I'm a novice. If my mom had her way, I would be an expert by now but that wouldn't guarantee dance partners at parties because of the millennial problem mentioned above). And I doodled a tiny cartoon of her, with a lumpy face. She's as big as my thumbnail, that's how tiny she is. And then I didn't get to finish a doodle involving dancing, partly because Chacha Slide came on and since middle school, I have been dancing that song whenever it comes on at a party, which is easy because it tells you what to do, and partly because after the cake, we left... so Elsa's dancing with a headless man. And yesterday I finished Elsa's dance partner and even her dress so here it is:

Yeah, I'm starting to draw outright Helsa. If you can't tell by the clothes, it's my modern AU. On both Instagram and Tumblr, I put the following: "I don't dance." "Well, I'm changing that."... Someone has to, cuz Hans can't spend the rest of his life with Anna as his dance partner and horses aren't allowed on the dance floor πŸ˜† they look pretty cozy though... The party in question was a bridal shower, so I am apparently turning to drawing my OTP when encountering happy couples. I had a good time at the party, mostly because I didn't go with high expectations but just to relax and have a change of scenery. I need to have the same mentality with future parties, because I have fun in the moment, but then I crash and burn and I'm upset with guys in my generation for being idiots.

I'm on the lookout for Hurricane Irma, which is looking to be headed in my area. I say, watch out for the wildlife. There aren't many birds around here anymore and my dad and I saw a turtle walking down our street yesterday, far from neighborhood canals, so we're doing what we can to get ourselves ready. Hurricane Matthew last year was all hype, we got ready, I got hurricane hair from letting my dogs out one last time before getting cooped up... and I woke up to electricity, running water, wifi, and a few leaves that fell off our trees. Other people did suffer damage from it, but I got supremely lucky. Methinks another Hamilton isn't going to rise up from the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, cuz she's going to pass over the group of islands featuring St. Kitts and Nevis (you'll get it if you're in the fandom). I'll probably produce some doodles later on, but we'll likely get hit this weekend with a force of nature so I don't know when I'll come back here.

Oh, and in case you read this before midnight PT, Society6's labor day sale ends tonight and so does Redbubble's. I applied for Walmart last week because of a friend, and I haven't heard anything. I won't be disappointed if I don't get hired, but I would like to make some money πŸ˜„ Alright, well I'll be going. Hopefully I'll be back before Hurricane time.

Why is my blogger getting so many views for my Tom Brady meme? WHY?

Force Friday meme and then some (and an important PSA for hurricane season)

Hello. I'm sorry, but I haven't been really in a doodling mood but in a meme mood so here's what I made today to finish off this week:

Same meme, different subjects. So today is Force Friday? I took the same girlfriend vs other girl meme base I used earlier this week to make another meme based off it and made two different ones, which isn't very hard if you know what you're doing. Top one is based off of The Force Awakens, a.k.a. 7, because as much as I don't really ship Reylo, Kylo doesn't know how to act like he doesn't have a crush on Rey. The second one is totally me and I'm probably the only person who can relate to this. As if this blog, my Tumblr and my Instagram aren't proof enough of my problem of ignoring my OCs for Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, I don't know what is, but here's a meme for it anyway. And I've got something else for you, too:

I made a gif! And it's not an animation nor is it Frozen related... wait, what? So I happen to love Taylor Swift's newest and latest hit (I like just about all her hits. No, I don't identify as Swiftie nor do I take sides in her feuds expect for the Kim and Kanye one. I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole) and it's almost eternally stuck in my head. I keep thinking of Frozen when I hear it but Mother Gothel is just so good for it too, especially the section of lyrics I selected for the gif, so you're seeing her first. Also, I don't own a copy of Frozen or the song in question and I don't have good video editing software, so that can wait, along with my animation idea for Blank Space. Society6 is having a labor day sale that started today and it ends Monday at 11:59 pm PT, so go check it out so I don't have to draw tiny on scrap paper or make memes anymore... unless you actually like that, but that wasn't the point of this blog when I made it. I have been neglecting advertising my Redbubble, but if you want to check that out, too, go ahead. I won't judge. Have a good weekend everybody... and yet I am being selective as I write this

Just a PSA about hurricanes because we need to learn how to effectively prepare for them still: yes, I know hurricanes suck and they cause a lot of damage, but there is a lot you can do to prevent hardship afterwards. No, I don't mean have another house in a state or country not affected by hurricanes or have a huge bank account. That would be nice but who are we kidding? Most people living in hurricane zones have a hard time making enough to live. If you hear there is the possibility of a hurricane coming to your area, start getting prepared. Check to see if you are in a mandatory evacuation zone, look for shelters (especially if you have animals because few shelters allow animals and abandoned animals break people's hearts while thinking who could possibly do such a thing), start buying supplies like water, gas, etc... if you have to evacuate, don't wait till the last minute. Birds migrate before a storm comes, only ibises are the last to leave before a hurricane. Leaving last minute gets you either stuck in traffic or stuck in a storm and not everybody survives. You've got shutters? Good, put them up. You don't? Buy if you can, or get some sheets of plywood if you can afford it. And if you can't afford it, tape your windows from the inside. I weathered Hurricanes Jeanne and Francis in a second floor apartment with only tape on the windows. No broken windows even though we watched the sliding doors of the balcony concave in from the wind. Use masking or duct tape, not invisible. Not everyone can afford a pickup truck or likes them, but pickup trucks are great when streets are flooded because they're taller and their engines won't get damaged in the water. That's of course if the water isn't waist deep with a strong current. Be prepared for no running water or electricity after the storm. Oh, and mosquitoes are very active after a storm. Baby powder is great for keeping you from getting sweaty and from getting bug-bitten. I can't give every tip as I've only been through maybe three hurricanes in my lifetime and they weren't that bad, not in my personal experience, but there are plenty of sites to help you get information. Your local news station is a great source. Just stay safe. It sucks having to hear of all the damage and deaths that these storms cause, but if we can learn from it, then that makes us better.
