Heck-of-a-lot of doodles Humpday

Hello. I know I missed a week but I just have been busy, not spending much time on my computer and my dad took the week off from work last week, so even though I don't stop doodling, I forget to post on here, especially since sometimes it's easier to start the draft on my phone because the pictures are on my phone but... sometimes I don't want to waste my battery and I can be forgetful if I procrastinate a lot or hear something in passing. SO, last Monday the (teaser) trailer for Thor Ragnarok was dropped and MY GOD it looks like it will be a joyride at the least, so I doodled two of my reactions to watching the trailer the first time around:

I got so excited when Loki showed up that I slammed my knees into my keyboard tray and that threw my mouse off and I had to pick up my mouse, move it back into position so I could see the video because it hovered over the show desktop function. Oh, and I spent about a week reading Tarzan of the Apes. I love Disney's Tarzan and last year's Tarzan with Alexander Skarsgård and Margot Robbie looked intriguing (not that I've seen it yet), so I thought it was time to read the original. I just kept forgetting who wrote it (Edgar Rice Burroughs) and I sometimes get more preoccupied with finding other books I want to read (the Jungle Book, which I cannot find in my local libraries) that it wasn't till now that I thought to read it. Well, I did and I enjoyed it, to the point that I wanted to draw Tarzan, which exactly didn't turn out the way I wanted it to:

The first one is meant to be Tarzan, drawn last Thursday night after finishing the book, but he looks more like Tom Hiddleston with a bad haircut and huge shoulders. I will redo him digitally, hopefully that will help. And the other two are Jane and Clayton, respectively. Jane is ehh, ok and Clayton looks way too eager. Well, if you read the book, you may actually find the face to be appropriate. Ah, I also got sick, starting last Thursday, with a head cold. It started with a sore throat for two days, then it was a weird feeling in my ears for a day, and a stuffy nose for three days, with a very sneezy Monday, which inspired the doodle below:

Yes, I finally drew Elsa in her Frozen Fever dress, and snowgies. My own violent sneezes reminded me of Elsa creating tiny snowmen with her sneezes and it was a moment of being grateful I'm normal. And my parents had me cooking. My dad told me to make brownies and my mom made me cook dinner. Both came out good despite my bowing-to-the-Emperor sneeze I did while chopping up the savories. No, I did not face the food when I did it, but my head went so low when I sneezed that I may as well have been bowing to someone. I'm not sure if my grandpa noticed it because he was standing in the kitchen when it happened. And, last but not least, my sister has become obsessed with Star Wars again because of the trailer drop for The Last Jedi, and she wanted to watch Star Wars celebration and Josh Gad of all people was the host of the panel for The Last Jedi. That jogged my memory that I wanted to doodle this after seeing him harassing Daisy Ridley with questions about the movie and her character on his Instagram:

I love how he says "answer my damn question, Daisy." I don't think anybody would have expected "Olaf" to say damn like that. I say damn frequently but Olaf is innocent, damn is not an innocent word so personally I just find it hilarious. And clearly, I love how he tries to bribe her with vague information about Frozen 2. I'm more interested in Hans being in the movie, Olaf is a given, but all is quiet on the homefront. Although I highly suspect that Disney ships Helsa and is incapable of keeping it secret. Just look at the fairytale collection they made a couple years ago with Hans and Elsa. I don't think I've ever seen more sexual tension in my life and it's the box art, much less the dolls. They look like if the other one makes a peep, they'll hop onto each other in a second and engage in improper conduct outside of a bedroom, if you know what I mean. The doodle above was colored in by my sister because my mom wanted to watch Murdoch Mysteries to return it to the library and that was going to take a long time, so I let her have a go to get it finished. I hope to draw more Star Wars stuff, along with Tarzan, Frozen and my own creations that have been all but abandoned, so I hope to come back soon.

Friday Feminism (the only thing that ties it all together, besides cartoons)

Hello! Good news (to distract from the bad)... I finished another doodle Wednesday night because I still wanted to take advantage of pen pressure working and it went along quicker than I thought... AND I did a doodle today because it's still working. Yay.

Yes, I have finally finished that Daddy Hiddles doodle that I started two months ago!!! And, I did a redraw of that X-23 poster I drew three years ago (as of tomorrow). Yeah, I've had this blog for three years. Clearly Tom is channeling Captain James Conrad in his form of dress here 😉 I have currently knocked off three doodles off the list that you have yet to see here but was posted in Instagram and Tumblr (oops...). That's good, because I tend to forget ideas when they start to add up. I'm glad that I was able to do these and that I can see the improvement I have made in drawing (both digitally and traditionally). Now with the new X-23 poster, the old one looks like crap. That was probably my first doodle done completely digitally so to be able to redo that, even when I thought that I might not be able to, is pretty much satisfying to show, not just yourself but others, that improvement can be made when you practice often. I feel like her claws are a little too close to each other but that's fine. It still looks better than the original. It probably helps that I've learned to sketch in the beginning because it does help in figuring out size, placement/positioning and makes the finished product look better because you already know how you have to draw the line. I've been talking so much about X-23, I've left out Tom 😅 A reason why it took me so long to work on that doodle is because I had sketched his head wrong... Yes, I sketched his head, it didn't feel right so I didn't work on him. And then it was sketching his body, too. Basically, I am out of practice in drawing Tom Hiddleston which is why this doodle took forever, especially when I decided that I was going to finish it and pen pressure stopped working. Yeah, I had planned on finishing him when pen pressure broke the first time. Well, I don't know if it'll still be working next week so remember my Redbubble and I'm thinking I might add these doodles to my shop soon. Well, hope you guys have a good weekend.

Happy Humpday (surprise coloring page)

Hello! Well, I wanted to see if today I could possibly do a doodle. I had planned on checking it on the other computer but as I already had my computer on, I plugged it in. My computer installed it all by itself (clearly it has been that long) and when I opened up FireAlpaca to see if pen pressure would work... It did. I took the opportunity to scratch off something from my doodle list:

It's an Anna and Elsa coloring page! Yay! I came up with the idea for this a couple weeks back when I was thinking of my little cousins so this work is dedicated to them. Yeah, I figured to seize the chance to do this for them because I might visit them soon and I don't want to show up empty handed, even though I printed their own copies of my Hans coloring page for them. It's the same size as that one, actually, so you could place both pictures in Photoshop and print them out on one page if you wanted. Yes, you can print it out and color it because that is the point of coloring pages. I am not closing down Save the Doodles just yet as pen pressure could stop working soon so I'm playing it safe and not going crazy announcing that it has been fixed, I don't need the money because I do and I don't know if it has really been fixed or patched up so I could work on this today. Speaking of Save the Doodles...

Tom Hiddleston was sort of haunting me yesterday. How? I went to the library and I spotted a Kong: Skull Island novelization, Only Lovers Left Alive and Crimson Peak. Also my phone scrolled a couple of pics I have of him yesterday and the day before. So I made the second Save the Doodle doodle (doodle doodle 😁) Daddy Hiddles. Because that doodle was affected by this. That doodle is how I realized pen pressure was gone. I may work on it a little tonight for just in case. I don't expect to finish it but I don't want to save it for later and then have to save it for when I get a new tablet. Well, hope you guys have a good time, I'll see if I come back on Friday.

I NEED A HERO (So much stuff)

Hello. I am sorry, but as you can imagine, technical difficulties still abound. After the horsies post, I doodled the stylized modern!Hans below because I felt like it two Saturdays ago:

Then last Wednesday it occurred to me to check the driver for the drawing tablet on my computer. My computer thought I had a Cintiq Companion (I wish) so I downloaded and installed a new driver for my particular tablet. It worked so I worked on a couple of doodles and posted the previews on Instagram and Tumblr:

Then on Friday, the driver went to heck and pen pressure stopped working again. After redownloading/reinstalling it, it still didn't work. Correction: pen pressure is no longer achievable on my Windows 10 computer. It still works on the family computer that has Windows 7, a little wonky, but it works. And I have basically run out of room on my flash drive, I only have space for one or maybe two doodles, so I need to raise up some money. Before I continue on that tanget, here are three doodles I came up with last Friday night because at some point or another, I have to doodle, there's no other way:

They are all clearly stylized, but the top one is Elsa (no established timeline), and the middle is a modern!fem!Hans, because Prince Hans and modern!Hans are not enough. I drew her hair in a bun for ease but I have seen so many good genderbends that I can see Hanna wearing nearly all of the different hairstyles I've seen. And the bottom one... my sister was talking about Stardew Valley and she said that she thought that the characters would look good in my (stylized realism) style. I started with Shane. Continuing on that tangent earlier, I need to raise some money to continue doodling digitally. I had my eye on a Huion W58, which is less than $90 and has wireless capabilities, and a portable external hard drive. I couldn't see the exact price of the W58 last week for some reason, it seems they are running out of that model in particular. The hard drive I have wanted for the longest to back up my phone and have as extra storage but now it's pretty much necessary for drawing, too. So I started a campaign on Tumblr (whether they participate or even pay attention is a different story) called Save the Doodles. I'm gonna have to whip up some doodles to help with that, but Save the Doodles is basically to spread the word about my Redbubble shop so that there is a higher chance that someone will buy something that would bring me one step closer to digitally drawing again. Because this sucks that I had these projects planned and suddenly I can't even finish them now. I'll upload my doodle list (although it has grown by now) on here probably tomorrow so you can see what I have planned for when I can get back to drawing. I'm also going to have less free time this month so, long story short, TLDR, whatever, doodles will occur less frequently this month. Hope you guys are good, I heard there was a terrorist attack in Russia, and that I can doodle soon.
